Ready to Succeed

At a recent workshop, I heard:

Humans are born ready to learn and succeed.

Then, society teaches us that mistakes are wrong and we should be ashamed of failure.

Can you remember when you were 12 months old and learning to walk? Nope. Did you try and fail at walking a few hundred times? Yep. Yet, here most of us are today walking with ease because we didn't label falling and failing as bad. We never thought we couldn't succeed. We believed that someday we would be walking just like everyone else.

To succeed at anything, we must believe we can, otherwise we give up. Occasionally, success doesn't happen overnight, it requires taking the next step each day. That's why role models are so helpful. It proves to us that it can be done.

Take the four-minute mile for example. In the same year the four-minute mile was broken, several other people broke that record. Someone proved it could be done and gave others the belief that they could do it too.

What are you believing about your success today?

Think you can and you will. Think you can't and you won't.

It's that simple.
